SFF – SPORT FILM FESTIVAL 2017 – 38th EDITION
The winners of the 38th edition of the Sport Film Festival
The 38th International Film Festival “Sport Film Festival” ended with the Golden Paladins Grand Gala. The Week of Sports & Cinema, which began at the Faculty of Sport Sciences with the exhibition “Cinema & Sport”, the screenings of the films, the medical conference “Sport & Food” and the Grand Gala of the Golden Paladin, ended an edition of absolute success. 16 participating nations: Panama, Russia, Holland, Cuba, USA, Argentina, India (2 films), Kenya, Germany, Austria, Poland (5 films), Brazil (2 films), Spain and France (2 films), Latvia and Italy. During the elegant ceremony at the Teatro Politeama Garibaldi as best feature film was awarded the Panamanian film “La Fuerza del Balón” by director Alberto Serra; for the best short film the Paladin went to the Russian “Outcast” by Yury Sysoev; the Italian film “Il Rumore della Vittoria” by the directors Galbusera and Guzzardi won the Paladin as best Paralympic film and “The Last Journey of the Red Count” was awarded as the best “Football Film”. The movie commission of the festival has also awarded the following films: the Golden Paladin for best foreign film went to “Ventoux” by director Anton Mertens; Best Screenplay “Ustica, gli Anni del Diamante” (Italy) by Stefano Coco; Best Soundmixing “Lane 0” (Spain) by Manuel Tera; Best Picture “Go – Poladsie” by Szepan Skibicky; the Social Award went to “Una Storia Semplice” by Giuseppe Garau; Best Editing for “Straight Line” by Yuri Pirondi; Best Direction “You’ll Never Walk Alone” by Stephane Grodet. Other special prizes went to other deserving films: the UNIPA prize at “Cinecittà On Wheels”, the CONI award to “Un Solo Battito”, the CIP award at “Corsa D’estate”, the AMAP award at “On The Road”, and that FMSI to the movie “Where It All Began”. Also went awards for the films “Red Cobra, l’Importante è Vincere”, “Hantei 20.0”, “We All Runners”, “Dancing Life”, “The heroic”, “Life is Air in the Face” and “White Maze”.
During the evening, a special prize was given to the cartoon out of competition “Il Traguardo di Patrizia” by Rosalba Vitellaro and to the characters who particularly distinguished themselves in the sporting world as Tanino Vasari and the Italian National 5-FISDIR Soccer Team. Awards also in the social and health field such as Unicef Sicilia represented by Umberto Palma, the Spinal Midollolesi Association represented by Antonio Iacono, the Associazione Medici Calcio represented by Giovanni Imburgia, the young Daniele Pomilia, the young director Alessia Zuccarello and the researcher Maria Piccione acknowledged for her efforts in research on Rare Diseases.
The festival celebrates 38 years, during which it has consecrated great films and great directors such as Win Wenders, Luigi Comencini, Mario Monicelli and many sports figures and sports journalists such as Moratti, Lippi, Tardelli, Moser, Sacchi, Abete, Chechi, Puskas, Corso, Furino, Zeman, Pancalli, Zanardi.
At the event, presented by Nadia La Malfa and Roberto Marco Oddo, the Mayor of Palermo Leoluca Orlando, the new regional councilor for Tourism Sport and Entertainment Sandro Pappalardo, the Magnificent Rector of the University of Palermo Fabrizio Micari, the Director of the ASP 6 Antonio Candela, the Director of the OR Villa Sofia-Cervello Maurizio Aricò, Vittorio Virzì (scientific manager of the review). Among the guests in the theater also the singer Silvia Mezzanotte, Davide Shorty and the actress Andrea Castellana, protagonist of the TV series “La mafia uccide solo d’estate”.
Now we start again, immediately towards the 39th edition: from the first of January 2018 we start again with the registrations at the film festival of Palermo… City of Italian Culture.

I vincitori della 38° edizione dello Sport Film Festival
Si è conclusa con il Grangalà del Paladino d’Oro la 38a Rassegna Cinematografica Internazionale “Sport Film Festival”. La Settimana del Cinema Sportivo, iniziata alla Facoltà di Scienze Motorie con la mostra “Cinema & Sport”, le proiezioni dei film, il convegno medico “Sport & Food” e il Grangalà del Paladino d’Oro, si è conclusa un’edizione di assoluto successo. 16 le nazioni partecipanti: Panama, Russia, Olanda, Cuba, USA, Argentina, India (2 film), Kenia, Germania, Austria, Polonia (5 film), Brasile (2 film), Spagna e Francia (2 film), Lettonia e Italia. Durante l’elegante cerimonia al Teatro Politeama Garibaldi è stato assegnato il Paladino d’Oro per il miglior lungometraggio al film panamense “La Fuerza del Balón” del regista Alberto Serra; per il miglior cortometraggio il Paladino è andato al russo “Outcast” di Yury Sysoev; il film italiano “Il Rumore della Vittoria” dei registi Galbusera e Guzzardi si è aggiudicato il Paladino quale miglior film Paralimpico e “L’ultimo Viaggio del Conte Rosso” è stato decretato miglior “Football Film”. La movie commission del festival ha inoltre assegnato i seguenti premi: il Paladino d’Oro per il miglior film straniero è andato a “Ventoux” del regista Anton Mertens; Best Screenplay “Ustica, gli Anni del Diamante” (Italia) di Stefano Coco; Best Soundmixing “Lane 0” (Spagna) di Manuel Tera; Best Picture “Go – Poladsie” di Szepan Skibicky; il Social Award è andato a “Una Storia Semplice” di Giuseppe Garau; Best Editing per “Linea Retta” di Yuri Pirondi; Best Direction “You’ll Never Walk Alone” di Stephane Grodet. Altri premi speciali sono andati ad altri meritevoli film: il premio UNIPA a “Cinecittà On Wheels”, quello CONI a “Un Solo Battito”, premio CIP a “Corsa D’estate”, il premio AMAP a “On The Road”, e quello FMSI al film “WHERE IT ALL Began”. Inoltre sono andati riconoscimenti ai film “Red Cobra, L’importante è Vincere”, “Hantei 20.0”, “We All Runners”, “Dancing Life”, “L’eroica”, “La Vita è Aria in Faccia” e “White Maze”.
Nel corso della serata è stato assegnato un premio speciale al cartone animato fuori concorso “Il Traguardo di Patrizia” di Rosalba Vitellaro e ai personaggi che particolarmente si sono distinti nel mondo sportivo come Tanino Vasari e alla Nazionale Italiana di Calcio a 5 FISDIR. Premi anche nel campo sociale e sanitario come all’Unicef Sicilia rappresentata da Umberto Palma, all’Associazione Midollolesi Spinali rappresentati da Antonio Iacono, all’associazione Medici Calcio rappresentata da Giovanni Imburgia, al piccolo Daniele Pomilia, alla giovane regista Alessia Zuccarello e alla ricercatrice Maria Piccione riconosciuta per l’impegno profuso a favore della ricerca sulle Malattie Rare.
La rassegna compie così 38 anni, durante i quali ha consacrato grandi film e grandi registi come Win Wenders, Luigi Comencini, Mario Monicelli e tanti personaggi dello sport e del giornalismo sportivo come Moratti, Lippi, Tardelli, Moser, Sacchi, Abete, Chechi, Puskas, Corso, Furino, Zeman, Pancalli, Zanardi.
Alla kermesse, presentata da Nadia La Malfa e Roberto Marco Oddo, hanno partecipato tra gli altri il Sindaco di Palermo Leoluca Orlando, il neo assessore regionale al Turismo Sport e Spettacolo Sandro Pappalardo, il Magnifico Rettore dell’Università di Palermo Fabrizio Micari, il Direttore dell’ASP 6 Antonio Candela, il Direttore dell’O.R. Villa Sofia-Cervello Maurizio Aricò, Vittorio Virzì (responsabile scientifico della rassegna). Tra gli ospiti in teatro anche la cantante Silvia Mezzanotte, Davide Shorty e l’attrice Andrea Castellana, protagonista della serie Tv “La mafia uccide solo d’estate”.
Adesso si riparte, subito verso la 39a edizione: dal primo gennaio 2018 si ricomincia con le iscrizioni al festival cinematografico di Palermo… Città della Cultura Italiana.
